Each week, we publish a portrait of someone who plays Paatch. It's a very short format that talks about remote working habits and Paatch's experience! Paatchers come from different backgrounds, from different professions, from different cities and have different statuses (entrepreneurs, employees or freelancers) but they share the same credo of free, productive and friendly teleworking.

This week, we present Laurie to you.

Who are you? What is your job?

Laurie Comoli and I am a Product Designer;)

Where (TV) do you work from most often?

I like to work from home and even if the space is limited I build different workspaces for myself to move according to the task I am doing. This allows me to boost my motivation and concentration throughout the day. I divide my apartment as follows: the dining table is perfect for big moments of brainstorming where I can spread out all my ideas on paper, the coffee table for calls and summaries for example, not to mention the sofa for the night before and the hours of design on my favorite tool. Figma.

But I always plan 2 or 3 half days, alone or in a group, in cafes because it stimulates my productivity while reconciling my passion for coffee. A way to enrich my stories with the famous “one day, one coffee” that my subscribers love to follow! My google map is full of good coffee shops to test in France and Europe;)

And finally I discovered colivings in April 2021 after the upheavals that we all knew and it became an essential part of my lifestyle. A simple way to get away from it all and to be enriched by encounters that are always incredible!

Also, by “at home” it does not necessarily mean my full-time apartment. I have recently adopted a more nomadic lifestyle where I may have to change my home every month. I have with me small charms like candles or posters of my favorite illustrators. This allows me to feel “at home” in a cocoon and to find my different points of reference for teleworking. A table, a desk, a coffee table, a sofa and that's it to find my way of functioning through my various workspaces!

What advantages do you see in teleworking?

Clearly it is to be able to compose my day according to my rhythm while finding a real balance between professional and personal life. In the middle of the day, I can roll out my yoga mat when my mind is too agitated and I can't get anywhere. I also love the freedom of being able to have breakfast or lunch when my body makes me feel that it is time. It is a way of working that I adopted very quickly, especially as a woman where during certain periods of the month it is clearly impossible for me to work far from my comfort ^^

What are the disadvantages? What do you do to avoid them?

Am I allowed to say that I don't see any 😅? If I force myself to find an inconvenience, I would say that it comes more from those around me who think that teleworking means that I am available anywhere at any time! But it's a simple matter of learning and educating them who quickly understand that I am focused with my nose in my computer.

What would be your 3 tips for someone starting to work from home?

Know each other well and be able to observe each other. Do not hesitate to telework in coworkings or cafes as much as possible if you observe a loss of motivation or a decrease in morale.

Understand how you work in order to find your rhythm and set up small ones Hack to avoid being tempted by procrastination. Mine you understood it is to travel to my apartment!

Finally, teleworking does not always mean loneliness. We are more and more remote workers, coworking spaces are developing everywhere and it is now very easy to get together to work. It is also a mission that Paatch does very well isn't it;)?

What is your best memory when you participated in a Paatch?

There are so many!! First of all, the benevolence of the people in coliving. And then the sharing of experiences or simply pieces of personal life that make human progress. There are also the morning yoga sessions that have grown day by day. And then we're not going to lie to each other... La Maison du Cap Ferret is a hell of a place to work and live in a community!
